Pensamientos. I was just thinking, and sometimes writing helps me think a little more clearly. So here are some random thoughts, observations and opinions. Just some things I have been thinking about.
Most of these ramblings fall into three categories:
1. Travel writing. These are some occasional posts having to do with, you guessed it, travel.
2. Christopher Columbus. Columbus has become something of an obsession with me. I have read almost everything he wrote, and have read thousands of pages that others have written about him. Like most people who achieve great things, he was complex, controversial (in his own age as well as in our age), and often misunderstood. He came to Spain as a foreigner, learned a foreign language, promoted an unpopular idea, persisted against all odds, and ultimately changed the world. Love him or hate him, it is hard to name any other single individual in recent history whose achievements have had greater impact on the modern world.
3. Three Things. These short blog posts are a plea for simplicity. Mostly they are a reaction to the proliferation of articles touting such things as 27 Things Every Happy Person Does. I’m a numbers guy, but I prefer small numbers. “Three Things” is a series of blog posts promoting simpler solutions to life’s natural complexity.
